Getting back on track

This post is in conjunction with my post about the new car.
Over the past few months I've been side tracked with mostly good things but i haven't been as focused on making food from scratch as i had been.
When my parked Accord was hit it felt like we had been completely derailed.
We are back on the rails now and since that was such a smooth grace-filled transition I'm looking around at other ways i can regroup reorganize and get back to it.
I have a few thoughts;   getting back to savings, revamping our budget, and going back to making food from scratch.
I also wanted to revisit my approach to how i look at my cash tips as this money is often invisible money. I do claim tips but I don't count them when I draw up budget numbers because they fluxuate week to week.
Because I'm paid on a commission scale my paycheck also floats up and down.
Lastly, i wanted to revisit my credit card debt which wasn't much but really bothered me.  Between the two cards we owed around $600.  However,  i took an average of the past five months of payments and found that on average we had paid $540 per month on the credit cards.  Yuck! Sometimes we put my husband's paycheck and sometimes we just chipped away at it.  We were also paying $5 a month in interest which isn't much but i chose to just pay it off.
Truthfully, the card charges were due to some dental bills and some unexpected car maintenance.  We don't spend extravagantly but these surprised me. Now that they are paid down we can take that extra money and put it towards house!  Boy does it feel good to have that debt paid down.
The only remaining debt are my student loans which are only $150 per month.   Very manageable.
We also started am eBay business in February which has been a great blessing but it definitely sidetracked my focus!  That is now up and running and I can once again broaden my scope.
I will have to write about eBay in a different post.
